Golden Time, when the Alpine Larches (Larix lyalli) flame into color against the clear autumn sky:
It's a good time to be in the mountains. Here is Little Rainbow Mountain near Storm Lake in the Pintler Wilderness area:

Extraordinary shots! We love Montana and you're the first blog person I've found from there -- thanks for sharing!!
(I laughed reading your post below -- sometimes it's more fun to know nothing and just enjoy nature's beauty (at least that's how I often justify my ignorance!)
Fantastic captures and it does bring back all the beauty of Montana that I do miss! They're all superb, but the last one really grabbed me! Love your dog, too! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Stunning landscape...would love to visit there sometime!
I enjoyed all your lovely shots for today, but the middle one is my favorite.
I love your descriptions ~ and that gorgeous shot of Seymour Lake ~ very pretty reflection ~
The height is incredible!
Molly must be a wonderful companion dog. She seems to enjoy all her travels with you.
Wishing you, your family {including Molly} a great weekend!

Molly dog seems to be in glory
Spectacular scenery and color!
Great photos, as usual. I think that Molly enjoys your hikes as much as you do.
Wow~ wish I was there! That last picture is completely stunning.
I love the larches in that first shot!! But you can keep the snow! I do not even want to know that it exists, not till Dec 24!
