I have no idea, really, what a "trout sky" is--probably something like the "watermelon sugar" that Richard Brautigan wrote about. But here are two southwest Montana trout skies from the past week.
One, a view from lower Many Miles Lake at the edge of the Pintler Wilderness along the Continental Divide:
And two, a view of a raven on an old mine dump behind my home in Walkerville; the raven said, "Don't worry about the bright blue sky--the trout are rising. Go fish."
And so I did.

A 'trout sky' huh???? I've never heard of it ---but if that's the way your skies look like when there's a Trout Sky---well, then I LIKE it.....
Beautiful sky, ER...

I don't think I've ever heard of a trout sky either, but your skies are beautiful and clear!
Regarding our Jeep trails where I live, the counties keep them open, if nothing else for the tourism dollars. There are several places to rent Jeeps or to go on tours. They charge anywhere from $60 to $140 a person just to go on a tour! As much as I like hiking, Jeeping is great in the summer because we can cover a whole lot more miles in a day than we could on foot.
Awesome crisp blue sky for the raven!
and the first picture...
It's definitely worth enlarging {click for the second enlargement} wow... what lines!
the edge of the lake...
the rows of evergreens
and finally,
the towering mountains!
Wonderful!
I think we're getting a momentary bit of relief from the heat and humidity...
It's in the lower 80's still a bit humid, but not like yesterday... It was a sauna!
tomorrow... lots of rain ...high 70's. Someone said the heat comes back next week!

I know what you mean about barberries... wouldn't choose them again... but they were inexpensive {didn't know how bad the thorns get} and they actually grow in our clay / shale soil}
Glad to see it's been good to the sparrows :o)
Enjoy your time with Emily!

One should always listen to the wise words of Brother Raven. "trout sky" is a term I've never heard. Maybe it just refers to good fishing weather.
Never second-guess advice from a raven.
My trout skies here are cloudy with a threat of rain. The fishing are not hunkered down and hiding from the sun. The barometer drops and the biggies go on a feeding frenzy. But the clear blue of Big Sky country is stunning, whatever the trouting prospects! :)
"Nevermore!" Said the Raven... May as well fish! Nice shot of the Pintlers.
We may not be able to reduce global warming, end pollution and save endangered species single-handedly, but by choosing to live an earth-friendly lifestyle we can do a lot every day to help achieve those goals.
