My daughter and her boyfriend visited us in Butte Montana the past week, and we toured some favorite places. Here, silhouetted against the sky of the Big Hole River valley, is the fencepost sculpture "Droll Nuances" by Cory Holmes of Havre (he's got his art scattered all over the West):
We also squeezed in a day trip to nearby Yellowstone National Park, with a stop at Old Faithful geyser:
Cool. That sculpture has personality.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have seen some of that are. Very unusual, but I like it.
ReplyDeleteOld Faithful looks good with the bright sky behind it. That is one of the best shots I have seen of it.
Yap that sculpture is full of personality. Love to see Montana someday and of course Yellowstone too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Old Faithful photo. No matter how many times we've seen the geysers, it's always fun to see them in action.
ReplyDeleteIt's great when your grown kids ask you to accompany them on trips. That's always made us feel like we've succeeded as parents, when the kids will put up with us voluntarily!
Interesting sculpture.

HI ER, Your photo of the steam off the geyser is super. Looks like you could get a clear shot, so maybe not too touristy?
ReplyDeleteBTW in answer to your question on my SWF - Due to the cold temperatures and water quality concerns, water contact sports, including swimming, scuba diving, water skiing and other water contact related activities, are prohibited. Windsurfing (sailboarding) with a full body wet or dry suit is permissible.
Hi ER, Looks like you and Mrs. ER gave your daughter and her boyfriend a great visit to Montana. Love the pictures from Yellowstone. OH---someday I might get there.

That second photo is great. Loved to see it with my own eyes one day.
ReplyDeleteEco-Great Sky Watch Post...I like the art work as well.
ReplyDeleteYour yellowston adventure brought back grand memories of when mt.man and I were in that neck of the woods. I still dream of fishing the gallatin....
Happy Friday! :)
ER: Two beautiful captures against a great sky.
ReplyDeleteBTW: I've never used buckeyes or dynamite to catch fish, where is the sport in that.
wow. These are awesome!
ReplyDeletethat's a cool sculpture! and love the blue sky on the second photo!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning!
ReplyDeleteLove the dear, dear moments when children visit.
The sculpture put a big wAvY smile on my fAcE ;o)
I have a special fondness for Old Faithful. We've never been...but my students and I always visit the live webcam when we read WALK TWO MOONS by Sharon Creech. Such excitement in the classroom... I love it!
