At first glance the high, sagebrush prairie of southwest Montana is a vast, featureless wasteland. But take a long cross-country hike and look more closely: the land is dotted with lush springs and handsome rocky outcrops. Overhead, of course, it's a big, Big Sky.

It would never look like wasteland to me. One of the prettiest places on the planet!
What a great place.

Great pictures. I really liked the red rock outcropping contrasted against the sky.
BIG SKY!
I've been staring at the second photo for quite a while... very interesting to look at all of its features...
Was glad to read up on some of your recent posts!
Take care! ~Maria
Beautiful! I wondered what the orange dot was in the first shot, looks like a person...Beautiful sky in both...I love the colors and textures of the rocks...
It is a pretty scene. And the sky is so blue, thanks for sharing your skies.
I like places that other people call 'Bad Lands', we often go to the desert to enjoy the vastness all around and the beauty of the little things.
Nice skies.

Loving that big sky!
Love the big sky photos and mountains! I look forward to seeing them myself in AZ when I fly away for the winter!
That second photo is beautiful. Desert hiking was an aquired taste for me, but now I love finding springs and colorful rocks and petroglyphs. The beauty is so unexpected, it's all the more special.
